Privacy Policy for Vim Master
This policy describes how the Vim Master iOS app (“the App”) handles information.
1. Information stored on your device
The App stores the following data locally on your device:
- Quiz progress (crowns and pass/fail history for each question)
- Local play history
- Settings, such as whether explanations are shown
- A display name, if you choose to save one (default: “Vimmer”)
This information stays on your device unless you also use the optional features below. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
2. Information sent over the network
The App uses Google Firebase Realtime Database. When you finish a quiz, the App may send:
- World History: date, difficulty, number of correct and incorrect answers, and crown totals. This does not include your name or other identifiers.
If you reach 50, 100, or 150 gold crowns for the first time and enter a name, the App may send:
- Vim Masters: the name you enter and the date you reached that milestone. This list is visible to other players in the App.
You can skip sending a name by not submitting the dialog. An empty name cannot be submitted.
3. How we use this information
- To save your progress on the device
- To show World History and Vim Masters to you and other players
We do not sell this information. We do not use it for advertising. The App does not use tracking, analytics SDKs, or third-party ads.
4. Sharing
World History and Vim Masters entries are stored on Firebase and displayed in the App. We do not share this data with other companies for their own purposes. Google processes the data as our hosting provider.
5. Retention
Data on your device remains until you delete the App. World History and Vim Masters entries remain on our Firebase database so other players can see them. Contact us if you want a Vim Masters name removed.
6. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do.
